Reliance Jio Set To Become World’s Largest Fixed Wireless Access Provider Surpassing T-Mobile

Reliance Jio may soon become the world’s largest Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service provider by overtaking the US telecom giant T-Mobile. FWA refers to Wi-Fi services available in homes and offices through wireless networks.

ICICI Securities released a report on Sunday stating that Reliance Jio is likely to have the highest number of FWA customers globally by June 2025. The report highlighted Jio’s rapid customer addition rate, which outpaces its competitors.

T-Mobile had 68.5 lakh FWA customers as of March 2025, according to its official data. TRAI’s latest figures show Reliance Jio crossed 68.8 lakh customers by May. While T-Mobile may have added new users since March, Jio’s pace of growth remains significantly higher.

In May alone, Reliance Jio added nearly 7.5 lakh new FWA customers. This remarkable increase places the company on track to surpass T-Mobile by June. The growth reflects Jio’s aggressive expansion in the Indian broadband market.

ICICI Securities predicts that, if this pace continues, Reliance Jio will lead the global FWA segment within a month. The company’s steady rollout of home Wi-Fi solutions in tier-2 and tier-3 cities is also contributing to this rise.

In India, only Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel offer Fixed Wireless Access services. Airtel added 1.82 lakh FWA customers in May, bringing its total to 15.4 lakh. The gap between the two firms continues to widen.

Vodafone Idea has yet to enter the FWA space. Its absence leaves the field open for Reliance Jio and Airtel to dominate the domestic market.

Reliance Jio’s momentum suggests it may not only lead in India but also set a new global benchmark in fixed wireless connectivity.
