Being Lifelong Student Is Essential To Become Best Teacher: Dr Dinesh Sharma

Rajya Sabha MP and former Deputy Chief Minister Dr Dinesh Sharma said on Friday that a teacher must remain a lifelong student to become the best. He spoke during a Teacher’s Day event in Lucknow.

Dr Sharma praised teachers in municipal schools for their dedication. He said these schools may lack resources, but they provide excellent education.

“A good school is made by good teachers, not by buildings,” he stated.

Nagar Nigam Schools Set an Example

Dr Sharma highlighted the achievements of Nagar Nigam schools. He said the Children’s Palace, once considered for handover, now competes with top private schools.

Students from these schools are making it to merit lists across the country.

He further added that Nagar Nigam Degree College is becoming a postgraduate institution. He announced ₹50 lakh from his MP fund for a new building. He also promised more help as needed.

Dr Sharma called for equal pay arrangements for Nagar Nigam teachers, similar to those at Aminabad Inter College. He said skilled teachers are behind the success of civic-run schools.

Teaching Is a Duty, Not Just a Job

Later, Dr Sharma criticised teachers who waste time on mobile phones.

“Such teachers face public criticism,” he warned.

Dr Dinesh Sharma urged all teachers to be punctual and committed. He called teaching a moral and national responsibility.

Additionally, he said education and culture are India’s core strengths. Hence, no force can harm the country easily.

Speaking on national issues, Dr Dinesh Sharma praised PM Modi’s response to the US tariff situation. He said Russia and China now support India.

“PM Modi didn’t reply with words, but with action,” he said.

Dr Sharma also praised the GST cuts, saying they will boost exports and production. He said India is moving fast towards self-reliance.

“History will record Modi’s achievements,” Dr Sharma added.

In conclusion, Dr Dinesh Sharma called Nagar Nigam a ‘school of democracy’. He praised the Mayor and councillors for their 24×7 work.

Dr Sharma also lauded Lucknow’s rise in cleanliness rankings under the triple-engine government.
