“Barring One Man,” No One Is Aware Of The Special Session’s Agenda: Opposition Reiterating Attack On The Centre

The central administration is under fire from opposition leaders for keeping the schedule of the extraordinary Parliament session secret. This comes after Pralhad Joshi, the minister of state for legislative affairs in the Union, announced the all-party meeting that would take place the day before the extraordinary session that was scheduled.

“An all-party floor leaders meeting has been scheduled on Thursday, July 17, at 4:30 p.m., in advance of the beginning of the month’s legislative session on the 18th. Email invitations for the same have been sent to the relevant leaders. To follow, a letter,” the Union minister said on X (formerly Twitter).
The meeting is set for September 18 to September 22.

Jairam Ramesh, the leader of the Congress, made fun of the federal government for not releasing the schedule for the upcoming session. He provided a list of previous special meetings held with the previously disclosed list of companies.
“The five-day Special Session of Parliament starts in five days, and nobody—aside from One Man(ok, maybe the Other One too)—has any idea of the agenda. Every time Special Sessions or

Special Sittings had been held in the past, the agenda had been known beforehand,” he wrote on X.
With only two working days until the special session, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Derek O’Brien poked fun at the center by claiming that the administration hasn’t made public its agenda.

“There are TWO working days left before the start of the #SpecialParliamentSession, yet the agenda is still empty. Just TWO people are aware! We continue to refer to ourselves as a parliamentary democracy, he added.
The session will start in the old Parliament building and shift to the new one the next day, which falls on Ganesh Chaturthi.
