Ayurveda Shows Path To Comprehend Life, Maintain Balance; Harmonise With Nature: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday praised Ayurveda as a timeless system that guides life, balance, and harmony with nature.

He addressed the centenary celebrations of the Arya Vaidya Sala Charitable Hospital in Kerala through a video message.

He said Ayurveda in India has never belonged to a single period or region. “Across ages, it has shown the path to understand life and live in tune with nature,” he added.

PM Modi applauded the institution for preserving and advancing Ayurveda over its 125-year journey.

He highlighted the vision of founder Vaidyaratnam PS Varier, whose dedication to public welfare and innovative approach continues to inspire.

The Prime Minister noted that Arya Vaidya Sala manufactures over 600 Ayurvedic medicines and treats patients from more than 60 countries. Its consistent service earned public trust, he said.

He congratulated vaidyas, doctors, nursing staff, and all hospital associates, and lauded the people of Kerala for keeping Ayurvedic traditions alive across generations.

Holistic Healthcare Transformation

PM Modi observed a shift in recent years, moving from isolated traditional medicine to a holistic approach.

The Ministry of AYUSH now unites Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy under one framework.

Preventive healthcare has gained priority under the National AYUSH Mission, with over 12,000 Ayush Wellness Centres offering yoga, preventive care, and community health services.

Medicines now reach every corner through linked hospitals.

The Prime Minister highlighted the rapid growth of the AYUSH manufacturing sector and rising exports, which grew from ₹3,000 crore in 2014 to ₹6,500 crore today, benefiting farmers.

India also attracts medical value travellers through initiatives like the Ayush Visa.

He emphasised presenting Ayurveda globally, including at the BRICS and G20 forums.

WHO’s Global Traditional Medicine Centre and the Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda are under development in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Medicinal plant farming along the Ganga supports rising demand.

PM Modi welcomed the EU trade agreement, enabling AYUSH practitioners to provide services based on Indian qualifications abroad.

He stressed scientific validation and modern research, commending Arya Vaidya Sala for collaborations with CSIR, IITs, and cancer research centres.

He urged integrating AI and technology into Ayurveda for innovative treatment and disease prediction.

Kerala Governor Rajendra V. Arlekar joined the event. PM Modi congratulated the hospital again, wishing it continued success in improving lives through dedication and service.
