‘Avoid Shortcuts’: PM Modi Urges Youth To Learn From Ram Nath Kovind’s Life

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged young people to read autobiographies and learn from accomplished personalities instead of seeking shortcuts to success. He made the appeal at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday while releasing former President Ram Nath Kovind’s autobiography, ‘Triumph of the Indian Republic: My Life, My Struggles’.

PM Modi said Kovind’s journey showed how someone from a humble background could overcome adversity and make a meaningful contribution to national development. He said Kovind helped advance the vision of an India where even the poorest and most disadvantaged citizens could aspire to reach the country’s highest positions.

Encouraging young people to learn from Kovind’s perseverance, PM Modi said difficulties never defeated the former President. Instead, his determination enabled him to overcome obstacles and fulfil demanding responsibilities.

PM Modi warned young people against shortcut culture and urged them to read autobiographies for inspiration and historical insight. He hoped Kovind’s book would guide future generations.

The Prime Minister noted that the book details Kovind’s experiences with former Prime Minister Morarji Desai and explains how they influenced his approach to politics and public service.

PM Modi said Kovind’s simplicity, honesty and commitment offered valuable lessons to people from economically weaker and socially disadvantaged backgrounds. His journey demonstrated how hardships could strengthen character and inspire dedication to national service.

The Prime Minister also praised Kovind’s sense of duty during his tenures as a parliamentarian, Bihar Governor and President of India. He said Kovind continued serving the nation after leaving the presidency and remained actively involved in significant issues, including the ‘One Nation, One Election’ initiative.
