Assam Poised To Emerge As Eastern Region’s Industrial Powerhouse: HM Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared that Assam stands on the brink of becoming the principal industrial centre of eastern and northeastern India.

He stated that the state is undergoing a profound transformation under the BJP’s double-engine administration.

Addressing a public gathering in Kamrup district after laying the foundation stone of the new campus of the 10th Battalion of Assam Police, Shah underscored the Centre’s sustained commitment to the state’s advancement.

HM Shah credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with allocating nearly Rs 15 lakh crore towards Assam’s development.

He said this unprecedented financial commitment has created a firm base for accelerated industrialisation and infrastructure expansion.

Shah asserted that the coming five years will witness a decisive industrial surge.

He said this expansion will generate large-scale employment and fortify Assam’s economic framework.

He maintained that Assam is steadily advancing towards becoming a strategic industrial nucleus for the broader eastern and northeastern corridor.

Highlighting action against illegal encroachment, Shah stated that BJP governments at both the Centre and state levels have reclaimed over one lakh bighas of land.

Land Reforms & Security

Amit Shah noted that authorities will construct the new police battalion campus on 174 bighas previously occupied unlawfully.

HM Shah further stated that challenges once perceived as security liabilities have now evolved into institutional strengths.

He attributed this shift to modern infrastructure, advanced training modules and improved facilities for security personnel.

He said the state has transformed security concerns into operational advantages.

Shah also drew attention to sweeping improvements in Assam’s infrastructure landscape. He cited expanded road networks, strengthened railway connectivity and the construction of major bridges.

HM Shah emphasised that these projects have stimulated economic momentum and enhanced regional accessibility.

Reaffirming the Centre’s resolve, Shah said the government remains dedicated to ensuring peace, stability and inclusive prosperity in Assam.

Home Minister Amit Shah concluded that firm governance, decisive anti-encroachment measures and sustained capital investment are collectively shaping a revitalised and forward-looking Assam.
