Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Friday that the formal process for constituting the new NDA government in Assam will commence on May 10 with the election of the Bharatiya Janata Party Legislature Party leader.
Addressing journalists in Guwahati, the Chief Minister stated that the BJP Legislature Party meeting will begin at 10 AM.
During the session, party legislators will elect their leader in the state Assembly.
Immediately afterwards, NDA legislators will convene a joint alliance meeting at 11 AM to elect the leader of the National Democratic Alliance in the state.
“The BJP Legislature Party meeting will take place at 10 AM on May 10. The leader of the BJP Legislature Party will be elected there. At 11 AM, a joint NDA meeting will be held, and the NDA leader will be elected,” Sarma stated.
Following the meetings, the newly elected NDA leader, accompanied by alliance legislators, will meet the Governor at 12 noon to formally stake claim to form the government.
“At 12 PM, the NDA delegation will meet the Governor and submit the claim to form the government. Once the Governor grants permission, the process of government formation will begin immediately,” the Chief Minister added.
Sarma further confirmed that the swearing-in ceremony of the new Council of Ministers will take place in Guwahati on May 12 at 11 AM.
The Chief Minister revealed that leaders from across the country will attend the programme. Chief Ministers from 20 states have received invitations for the occasion.
Several industrialists, Vaishnavite religious leaders, and Satradhikars will also participate in the ceremony.
BJP and AGP booth presidents and elected Gaon Panchayat representatives across Assam will attend the grand event.
