Former COO of BharatPe, Dhruv Dhanraj Bahl, has announced his departure from the fintech company, following a series of high-level exits. Bahl, who initially joined BharatPe in 2020 as the head of operations, had progressed to the role of Chief Operating Officer and later took on the position of Chief Business Officer for the Merchant Lending division.
This move comes amidst a wave of departures from the company in recent months, raising questions about its stability. Notably, BharatPe’s founder and former MD, Ashneer Grover, who himself left the company in 2022 amidst allegations of financial irregularities, took a jab at Bahl’s exit through a tweet in Haryanvi.
In a humorous and cryptic tweet, Grover implied, ‘Tau tare se na hone wala, tai choudhari banan lag rhya , taare baalak chor ke bhg liye, pachhe ko ho le” (Tau, You just cannot accomplish the task. The way you act is like a Chaudhary (strong man). Your kids have even fled the scene so you get back now).
A spokesperson from BharatPe confirmed that Bahl is leaving to pursue his entrepreneurial interests. The company acknowledged Bahl’s contributions and wished him success in his future endeavors. The spokesperson further stated that the exit would not disrupt the operations of the growing merchant lending business, led by an experienced leadership team.
In the midst of this, Grover’s tweet has gained viral attention, sparking amusement among internet users who flooded his post with laugh emojis and praises for his wit.
BharatPe’s challenges began in early 2022 with the dramatic exit of its founder, Ashneer Grover. Following his departure, the company accused Grover and his family of financial misconduct, leading to a legal battle. The company also witnessed exits from other key roles, including the Chief Technology Officer, Head of Consumer Product-PostPe, Chief Product Officer of Lending and Consumer Products, and the Vice-President of Technology.
As BharatPe navigates these leadership changes, its ability to maintain stability and continue its growth trajectory remains a topic of interest and speculation.
