In a pre-dawn operation on Tuesday, Indian Army troops thwarted an infiltration attempt in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the injury of one soldier, according to official reports.
The incident took place in the Battal sector of Rajouri, where the terrorists attempted to cross the Line of Control (LoC).
The Army’s White Knight Corps, headquartered in Nagrota, confirmed the incident through a post on social media platform X.
The statement read that alert troops foiled an infiltration bid by engaging infiltrating terrorists with effective fire in the Battal Sector at 3:00 AM. They injured one soldier during the heavy exchange of fire. Operations are ongoing.
This incident follows another confrontation on Monday in the Gundha Khawas village of Rajouri.
In that encounter, terrorists attacked the residence of a Shaurya Chakra awardee who is also a member of the village defence committee.
The Rashtriya Rifles unit nearby intervened swiftly, resulting in the injury of one soldier and believed fatal injury to a terrorist.
However, authorities have not yet recovered the body of the terrorist. They further evacuated the injured soldier to a hospital for treatment.
In response to the heightened terrorist activities, the Indian Army has bolstered its presence in the Jammu division, deploying around 4,000 specially trained forces, including elite Para Commandos and units skilled in mountain warfare.
These forces are tasked with eradicating terrorism from the densely forested regions of the area.
As operations continue in Rajouri, the Army’s proactive measures underscore their commitment to maintaining security and thwarting any threats along the LoC.
