The iconic quiz-based reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC) is likely to make a grand return with its 16th season, hosted by the legendary Amitabh Bachchan.
The much-anticipated premiere is scheduled for 12 August.
The show’s creators announced the new season with an evocative tagline, ‘Zindagi hai, har mod par sawaal poochegi, jawaab toh dena hoga’.
The promotional campaign showcases various scenarios where individuals confront challenges and questions that demand confident answers.
KBC, often regarded as India’s most iconic television program, played a pivotal role in revitalizing Amitabh Bachchan’s career.
In the late 1990s, Big B faced severe financial difficulties when his production house, Amitabh Bachchan Corporation (AB Corp), struggled due to its overly corporate approach during a time when traditional filmmaking methods prevailed.
To address his financial woes, Bachchan ventured into television with KBC in 2000.
This move transformed him from a silver-screen megastar to a beloved figure in millions of Indian households.
Meanwhile, his transition to television brought him closer to the audience, earning him a special place in the hearts of Indian families and securing his prime-time presence.
The Indian audience’s overwhelming response to Big B as the host of KBC, which is based on the UK show ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’, cemented his status as an enduring icon.
Although Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan hosted the show’s third season, he couldn’t replicate Big B’s magic.
Big B returned in the fourth season and has been the face of KBC ever since 2010.
As ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ gears up for its 16th season, fans eagerly await the return of Amitabh Bachchan’s charismatic presence and the engaging quiz format that has captivated viewers for decades.
