Amit Shah’s Ladakh Visit To Focus On Stakeholder Talks And Dialogue Process

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will begin a two-day visit to Ladakh on Thursday, with plans to take part in Buddha Purnima observances and engage with local stakeholders.

Officials said Shah will reach Leh later in the day and will likely offer prayers to the sacred relics of Lord Buddha on 1 May, marking the festival.

The visit also includes a review of development work in the Union Territory and meetings with representatives from the region. A detailed schedule remains unpublished.

Separately, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that a Sub-Committee meeting will take place on 22 May to continue discussions with the Leh Apex Body and the Kargil Democratic Alliance. The dialogue process aims to address key concerns raised by stakeholders in Ladakh.

The last round of talks between the Centre and these groups took place on 4 February in New Delhi, making the upcoming meeting the first in over three months.

Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena earlier confirmed the visit and said that Shah’s presence during the religious event reflects continued attention to the region’s development and cultural importance.

Saxena also noted that the planned meeting in May is to advance discussions and work towards long-term solutions aligned with the aspirations of the people of Ladakh.
