Amit Shah Visits Harami Nala To Review Border Security Arrangements

Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the strategically significant Harami Nala region in Gujarat’s Kutch district along the India-Pakistan border to review security preparedness and interact with Border Security Force personnel deployed in the sensitive sector.

During the visit, Shah inspected surveillance arrangements and assessed operational readiness in the challenging marshland terrain near Sir Creek.

Photographs released from the visit showed the Home Minister travelling aboard a BSF mechanised patrol boat while examining the estuarine landscape and border infrastructure.

Harami Nala remains one of the most sensitive stretches along the western border because of its difficult geographical conditions and historical vulnerability to infiltration activities.

The 22-kilometre tidal channel lies within the marshy Sir Creek zone, where fluctuating tides, mudflats, and shallow waterways create operational challenges for security personnel.

Authorities have historically identified the region as vulnerable to illegal infiltration, smuggling operations, and cross-border movement due to the constantly shifting terrain.

Officials stated that the visit highlighted the government’s continuing emphasis on strengthening border management and surveillance capabilities in strategically important frontier zones.

The Border Security Force has significantly enhanced monitoring mechanisms across the sector through improved outposts, mechanised water patrol systems, and advanced surveillance infrastructure.

Security agencies continue maintaining heightened vigilance because the terrain complicates conventional border monitoring operations.

During his interaction with BSF personnel, Shah acknowledged the role of security forces in safeguarding India’s western frontier under demanding environmental conditions.

Officials noted that the Home Minister’s inspection formed part of broader efforts to reinforce operational preparedness along sensitive border corridors.

The government continues prioritising infrastructure modernisation and technological integration to improve surveillance efficiency across vulnerable regions near the India-Pakistan border.
