Amit Shah To Visit Keralam; Attend Cooperative Programmes And Guru Amritanandamayi’s 73rd Birthday Event

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will visit Keralam on Saturday to attend programmes on women’s empowerment through cooperatives and celebrations marking Mata Amritanandamayi’s 73rd birthday in Kollam.

Shah will begin his engagements at the Pavithram Convention Centre in Kundara at 2 PM, where he will inaugurate cooperative initiatives through the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India (NCCF).

The initiatives seek to strengthen cooperatives and expand women’s participation in economic activities.

The visit comes as the Centre promotes women farmers and the ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’ initiative, which aims to strengthen cooperatives and support livelihoods and economic development.

Shah will later travel to the Mata Amritanandamayi Math at Amritapuri in Kollam.

At 3:45 PM, the Minister will attend ‘Vishwa Seva Dinam’ and the ‘Amrit Keerthi Puraskar’ ceremony as part of Mata Amritanandamayi’s 73rd birthday celebrations. He will likely meet Mata Amritanandamayi during the visit.

The Keralam visit will, however, cover programmes linked to the cooperative movement and a major spiritual institution in the state, highlighting the role of cooperatives in supporting women and local economic activity.

Authorities have strengthened security arrangements in Kollam and along the routes used by Shah’s convoy. Traffic restrictions will remain in parts of Kollam from 1 PM to 5 PM.

Thiruvananthapuram has tightened security and traffic measures for the VVIP convoy. Restrictions will apply on identified routes from 11 AM to 9 PM.

Police have advised motorists, particularly those travelling towards Thiruvananthapuram airport, to leave early and allow extra time for possible delays.

Shah’s visit comes as the Centre continues to promote cooperatives to strengthen rural livelihoods and increase women’s participation in economic activities.
