Amit Shah To Visit Dehradun On November 6; Chair BJP Core Committee Meeting

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Dehradun on November 6 to chair a meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) core committee as the party steps up preparations for the 2027 Uttarakhand Assembly elections.

According to sources, senior state BJP leaders will attend the meeting to review organisational preparedness, discuss the party’s political roadmap and strengthen its position ahead of the polls. Discussions are also expected to focus on election strategy and campaign planning.

Shah may also address a public rally during the visit, although officials are yet to announce details of the programme.

A key event during his visit will be the presentation of the President’s Police Colour to the Uttarakhand Police. The honour recognises the force’s service, achievements and contribution to maintaining law and order.

The visit comes as political parties intensify their activities ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. The Congress has launched demonstrations at district and state headquarters over alleged land scams and the illegal sale and auction of land in Uttarakhand.

The opposition party has also begun strengthening its organisational preparations. On November 2, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi met senior state leaders to discuss the party’s strategy for the upcoming elections.

Congress general secretary KC Venugopal, Uttarakhand in-charge Kumari Selja, state unit president Ganesh Godiyal, Assembly Leader of the Opposition Yashpal Arya and Election Management Committee head Harak Singh Rawat attended the meeting.

Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat was notably absent.

The BJP and Congress are stepping up their organisational activities as they prepare for the 2027 Uttarakhand Assembly elections.
