Amit Shah To Unveil ‘CoopKumbh 2025’ At Vigyan Bhawan; Focus On Digital Transformation

Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Amit Shah will inaugurate the Cooperative Kumbh 2025 (CoopKumbh 2025) at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Monday.

The two-day international conference, themed ‘Digitising Dreams – Empowering Communities’, seeks to advance financial inclusion through innovation in the cooperative credit sector.

Organised by the National Federation of Urban Cooperative Banks and Credit Societies (NAFCUB) under the Ministry of Cooperation, the event aims to bring together policymakers, regulators, cooperative leaders, financial institutions, and technology innovators from India and across the world.

Highlighting the significance of the conference, NAFCUB President Laxmi Dass said that CoopKumbh 2025 will focus on strengthening the cooperative foundation of India’s financial system.

Discussions will centre on digital transformation, governance reforms, and leadership development, with a special emphasis on empowering women and youth within the cooperative movement.

Dass noted that the platform represents ‘a convergence of ideas, innovation, and inclusion’, aiming to ensure that cooperatives continue to play a crucial role in India’s inclusive and sustainable growth story.

Global Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange

The event will also feature participation from international organisations, including the World Council of Credit Unions and GreenStone Farm Credit Services, whose representatives will share insights on global best practices in cooperative finance and sustainable banking models.

With an eye on international collaboration, CoopKumbh 2025 will explore how technological innovation can strengthen cooperative credit institutions, improve financial access, and promote resilience in urban economies.

Moreover, the conference takes on added significance as it coincides with the United Nations’ International Year of Cooperatives 2025, reaffirming India’s commitment to promoting cooperative principles on a global platform.

The initiative also highlights the importance of community-based finance in advancing economic empowerment, social equity, and digital progress.

CoopKumbh 2025 underscores the growing importance of urban cooperative credit institutions as engines of grassroots financial inclusion.

By integrating technology, governance reforms, and cross-border learning, the conference aims to establish a forward-looking roadmap for India’s cooperative ecosystem.

Furthermore, as Amit Shah inaugurates the event, the cooperative sector looks poised for a period of transformation — one driven by digital empowerment, community engagement, and shared prosperity.
