Union Home Minister Amit Shah will lead a series of high-profile roadshows across Tamil Nadu on Sunday, intensifying the BJP’s campaign in the final phase of the Assembly elections.
According to party sources, Shah arrived in Coimbatore on Saturday night and is staying there ahead of a busy day of campaign engagements. His visit comes as the party ramps up efforts to strengthen its presence in key constituencies before polling on April 23.
The campaign will begin with a roadshow in the Modakurichi Assembly constituency, where he will canvass support for BJP candidate Kirthika Shivkumar.
The western region is considered strategically significant, with party leadership focusing on direct voter outreach to consolidate support.
Later, Shah will travel to Chennai for another major roadshow backing BJP nominee Tamilisai Soundararajan.
During his visit, the Minister will offer prayers at the revered Kapaleeshwarar Temple in Mylapore.
Senior party leaders indicated that the twin roadshows aim to energise party workers and strengthen last-mile mobilisation in both western and northern parts of the state.
The emphasis remains on direct engagement with voters and consolidating support in the campaign’s closing stretch.
The visit forms part of a broader push by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), with senior leaders increasing their presence across the state to boost electoral prospects.
Authorities in Coimbatore have implemented stringent security measures and traffic diversions to manage the high-profile visit.
As the campaign enters its final stage, the BJP is relying on strong public outreach and the presence of senior leaders like Shah to maximise its performance in the elections.
