Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will lay the foundation stone for an 81-foot-tall statue of Lord Shiva at the Shaktipeeth Shri Varadayini Mataji Temple in Rupal, Gandhinagar, on Friday as part of a series of religious and cultural engagements across Gujarat.
Shah’s itinerary includes meetings with Jain religious leaders in Ahmedabad, prayers at the Varadayini Mataji Temple, an evening aarti at the Bahuchar Mata Temple in Mansa and participation in a traditional Raas Garba programme in Kolvada.
According to officials, the Union Minister will begin his engagements at 2.45 PM by meeting Gachchhadhipati Param Pujya Nar Ratna Surishwar Ji Maharaj at Prerna Tirth in Ahmedabad’s Satellite area. At 3.15 PM, he will meet Gachchhadhipati Param Pujya Udayprabha Surishwar Ji Maharaj at Shri Vishwa Jain Sangh in Paldi.
Shah will lay the foundation stone for the Lord Shiva statue at the Varadayini Mataji Temple in Rupal at 6 PM and offer prayers there.
He will attend the aarti at Bahuchar Mata Temple in Mansa at 7.30 PM, followed by a Raas Garba programme organised by the Navratri Yuvak Mandal at Shri Ramji Temple in Kolvada at 9.30 PM.
The visit coincides with Navratri, marked by religious gatherings and traditional garba celebrations across Gujarat.
Shah last visited the state on September 27, when he launched railway projects worth ₹1,472 crore at Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati station alongside Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
He flagged off India’s first LNG-powered train, inaugurated a WAG-12 locomotive maintenance shed and automatic signalling systems, and launched the indigenous Kavach train protection system on selected routes.
