Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Gujarat on January 27, marking his second trip to the state this month. The visit underscores his continued engagement with religious and community events in his home state.
During the visit, Shah will take part in a special religious programme organised by the Kalupur Swaminarayan Temple Trust in Ahmedabad.
The event commemorates 200 years since the writing of the Shikshapatri. It is a seminal scripture of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya that outlines moral and spiritual guidelines for followers.
The organisers will hold the grand congregation at Parv Ground and expect it to attract a large number of devotees from across the country.
According to organisers, extensive arrangements have been made to accommodate the anticipated turnout.
Shah is expected to take part in the ceremonial proceedings, offer prayers and seek blessings during the programme.
Sources associated with the temple indicated that senior saints and priests of the Swaminarayan sect are likely to formally honour him. They said this would be in keeping with longstanding religious tradition.
The community views his participation as significant. This is due to his regular presence at major events linked to the Swaminarayan Sampradaya over the years.
In light of the Union Minister’s visit, the Ahmedabad city police and district administration have initiated comprehensive security preparations.
Senior officials said authorities are putting coordinated arrangements in place to manage crowd movement. They added that the measures aim to ensure public safety and maintain law and order throughout the event.
The Kalupur Temple Trust is also overseeing logistical planning to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme.
The upcoming visit follows Shah’s earlier stay in Gujarat from January 14 to 16, during which he participated in Uttarayan festivities in Ahmedabad, visited prominent temples and attended several cultural and community programmes. He also met local leaders, reflecting his ongoing engagement with the state.
Officials said further details of Shah’s itinerary and security measures would be finalised closer to the event.
