Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Madhya Pradesh’s capital, Bhopal, on Saturday, with dairy development, cattle welfare, agriculture, infrastructure and narcotics-related issues on his agenda.
More than 35,000 cattle rearers and members of dairy cooperative societies from across Madhya Pradesh are expected to attend the state-level Gopalak Sammelan.
During the programme, Shah will distribute bonuses to cattle rearers associated with the Bhopal and Indore Milk Unions and provide financial assistance for cow shelters.
The event will also honour ‘Gopalak Didis’, or women cattle rearers. Shah will distribute sanction letters under the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana to beneficiaries.
According to the proposed itinerary, Shah will virtually perform the digital Bhoomi Pujan of a modern dairy plant in Ujjain, estimated to cost Rs 255 crore.
He will also inaugurate or lay the foundation for several facilities, including milk plants, dairy processing units and quality testing laboratories.
The programme will also cover a fermented milk product plant in Bhopal, while authorities will hold the groundbreaking ceremony for the Bhopal Western Bypass.
Shah will receive briefings on initiatives undertaken during Krishak Kalyan Varsh, or Farmers’ Welfare Year, and the Balram Krishi Mahotsav.
Officials from the Home, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, Cooperation, Public Works and Transport departments will present updates on their work.
At the BHEL Dussehra Ground, Shah will inaugurate an exhibition on the new criminal laws and chair a meeting on pending Centre-state issues.
Ahead of his visit, Congress state president Jitu Patwari questioned the decline in Madhya Pradesh’s dairy cooperative network and sought answers from Shah.
The visit will cover dairy development, animal husbandry, agriculture, cooperation, infrastructure and new criminal laws.
