Amit Shah To Address BJP’s First Booth Committee Zone Conference In Tamil Nadu

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address the BJP’s first booth committee zone conference in Tirunelveli on August 22, where the party expects the participation of over one lakh booth-level workers.

The party has described the event as a ‘historic movement’ and is organising it under the leadership of Tamil Nadu BJP State President Nainar Nagenthran.

BJP leaders claim the conference marks a significant moment in the state’s political landscape as preparations intensify ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

According to state spokesperson ANS Prasad, representatives from 8,595 booth committees across five Lok Sabha constituencies and 28 Assembly constituencies will participate.

He asserted that the gathering would help dismantle the DMK’s ‘corrupt and oppressive regime’ and build momentum for the NDA to secure victory in over 200 Assembly segments.

The conference will take place in Tiruchendur, referred to by the BJP as the ‘sacred land of Lord Murugan’.

Prasad hailed Amit Shah as the ‘election victory king’ and ‘master strategist’, stating that he would present a detailed electoral roadmap to empower grassroots workers and strengthen booth-level structures, which form the backbone of the BJP’s campaign strategy.

The training sessions will focus on countering alleged vote-buying practices and the DMK’s misuse of government machinery.

BJP vows to challenge DMK rule

BJP leaders have pledged to expose what they describe as the DMK government’s failures, citing issues such as lawlessness, corruption, rising crime, illicit liquor deaths, and heavy tax burdens.

They also emphasised that the party would work to ensure Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s welfare schemes and Central government projects reach every household, countering what they called the DMK’s ‘false propaganda’.

Prasad declared that the BJP aims to secure over 50 per cent of the vote share in Tamil Nadu by strengthening its booth-centric approach.

The party will also highlight the nomination of senior Tamil Nadu BJP leader and current Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as the NDA’s Vice-Presidential candidate.

BJP leaders described this as a ‘matter of pride’ for the state and a reflection of Prime Minister Modi’s ‘special affection for Tamil Nadu’.

Following the Tirunelveli conference, the BJP plans to hold similar events in Madurai, Coimbatore, Salem, Thanjavur, Tiruvannamalai, and Tiruvallur in the coming months. National leaders are expected to address these gatherings as part of the party’s strategy to energise its cadre across the state.

Pon Radhakrishnan, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, K Annamalai, Union Minister L Murugan, H Raja, and actor-turned-politician Sarathkumar will join senior leaders in addressing the Tirunelveli conference.

With Amit Shah’s presence, the BJP hopes to galvanise its grassroots base, present the NDA as a credible alternative, and position itself as a serious challenger to the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu.
