Amit Shah Says Smart Border Project To Strengthen India’s Border Security

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening border security through the proposed Smart Border Project, which will utilise drones, advanced cameras and modern surveillance technologies to create an integrated security network along India’s borders.

Addressing Border Security Force (BSF) personnel at the Lankamura Border Outpost along the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura, Shah said national security remains essential to achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047.

The Minister noted that India faces not only conventional security challenges but also threats such as drug trafficking, human trafficking, cattle smuggling, fake currency circulation and the use of drones for transporting arms and narcotics across borders.

Shah praised BSF personnel for their dedication to guarding India’s sensitive borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh. He said citizens deeply appreciate the commitment and sacrifices made by border forces in safeguarding the nation.

Shah said the Smart Border Fencing project is in its final planning stage, with a pilot launch scheduled next year at selected BSF and SSB locations.

The government will review the pilot before expanding the initiative nationwide.

The Minister said the project will enhance border security through advanced technology while improving welfare measures for security personnel.

Shah also said the Centre is strengthening border management and will not tolerate illegal infiltration. He paid tribute to Shri Guruji, praising his contribution to nation-building and self-reliance.

The event was attended by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha and senior BSF officials.
