Amit Shah Says PM Modi Balanced Welfare And Development Over 12 Years

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, saying the country has experienced a unique balance of inclusive welfare measures and rapid development during the past twelve years.

Shah’s remarks coincided with the first anniversary of PM Modi’s swearing-in for a third successive term on June 9, 2024.

The Prime Minister is also set to complete twelve years in office on June 10.

Sharing his views on X, Shah said the Modi government had successfully combined public welfare with large-scale national development, a feat he described as unprecedented in India’s history. He cited several flagship achievements, including the distribution of free foodgrains to 80 crore citizens, the operationalisation of more than 90 airports, and the launch of over 140 Vande Bharat trains across the country.

The Home Minister said government programmes have helped construct permanent homes for more than four crore families. He also highlighted the expansion of the road network by 1.45 lakh kilometres.

In addition, nearly 3,000 kilometres of expressways have been developed.

According to Shah, the administration also extended health insurance coverage worth ₹5 lakh to around 50 crore people and provided cooking gas connections to over 10 crore households. He said these measures have contributed significantly to India’s strong economic performance.

Shah pointed to several major projects undertaken during the PM Modi era. These include the new Parliament complex, the Central Vista redevelopment project and Kartavya Path.

The Minister also highlighted the Statue of Unity and INS Vikrant.

Other key initiatives include the Kashmir rail connectivity project, Noida International Airport, the Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System and the Ganga Expressway.

Shah emphasised that honest intent, people-focused objectives, and unwavering dedication drive meaningful national transformation.

On June 10, PM Modi will surpass Jawaharlal Nehru’s record and become India’s longest-serving continuously elected Prime Minister.

PM Modi won consecutive mandates in 2014, 2019 and 2024. He continues to lead the country in an uninterrupted tenure. Three years still remain in his current term.
