Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) after the organisation secured three of the four central posts in the Delhi University Students’ Union elections.
Shah said the result demonstrated what he described as the youth’s continued confidence in the organisation’s ideological approach.
In a post on X, the Home Minister wrote: “Heartfelt congratulations to all the dedicated workers of the ABVP on the splendid victory of ABVPVoice in the Delhi University Students’ Union elections.”

Shah further linked the electoral outcome to the organisation’s stated emphasis on national interest and student welfare.
“This victory reflects the unwavering faith of the youth in the ABVP’s ideology of ‘Nation First’ and its commitment to student welfare,” he asserted.
ABVP secured the president, secretary and joint secretary positions, while independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen won the vice-president’s post.
The Home Minister said ABVP workers should use the result as motivation to continue their activities among students.
Several Union Ministers and BJP leaders also congratulated ABVP representatives following the announcement of the DUSU results.
Some BJP leaders also made broader political comments about Gen Z and the Opposition, including assertions that young voters would reject what they described as Opposition claims.
The 2026 DUSU election recorded a 40.46 per cent turnout, with more than 1.51 lakh students eligible to vote.
The results gave ABVP three central panel positions, while Shokeen secured the remaining post as an independent candidate.
