Amit Shah Pays Tribute To Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya On Birth Anniversary

Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on his birth anniversary, remembering his contribution to national service, public welfare and political thought.

Shah described Upadhyaya as a pioneer of Antyodaya and Integral Humanism.

In a post on X, Shah said Upadhyaya viewed politics not as a means of gaining power but as an instrument of national service and the upliftment of the last person in society. He highlighted the leader’s emphasis on placing public welfare at the centre of political and social work.

Shah also recalled Upadhyaya’s association with Rashtradharma and Panchjanya, saying he used the publications to give voice to national thought.

He further noted Upadhyaya’s role in raising issues related to national unity through various movements.

Shah said Upadhyaya’s ideas would continue to guide efforts towards national service and public welfare. He compared the enduring relevance of his philosophy to a Pole Star, providing direction for those working towards the welfare of society and the nation.

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya was born on September 25, 1916, and became a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the political predecessor of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

A politician and philosopher, he developed the concept of Integral Humanism and promoted Antyodaya, which focused on the upliftment of the most disadvantaged sections of society.

Upadhyaya died on February 11, 1968. His birth anniversary is observed to remember his contribution to Indian political thought and his emphasis on national service, social welfare and Antyodaya.
