Amit Shah Meets Two Jain Acharyas In Ahmedabad; Highlights Teachings Of Ahimsa

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday met two prominent Jain spiritual leaders in Ahmedabad and highlighted the enduring influence of Jain teachings on Indian society.

In a post on X, Amit Shah said he had received the blessings of Gacchadhipati Param Pujya Acharya Shri Narratna Surishwarji Maharaj. He noted that the Jain principles of ahimsa (non-violence), restraint, and non-possessiveness had guided Indian society for centuries, adding that the revered acharya’s presence offered a direct experience of this way of life.

In a separate post, Amit Shah said the path shown by Lord Mahavira continued to inspire society through the efforts of saints who keep the values of religion and service alive.

The Minister shared that he had received the blessings of Gacchadhipati Param Pujya Acharya Shri Udayprabha Suri Swarji Maharaj Saheb in Ahmedabad.

Jainism places strong emphasis on non-violence, self-discipline and non-possessiveness.

The principle of ahimsa encourages compassion towards all living beings, while aparigraha advocates limiting attachment to material possessions. These principles remain central to Jain philosophy and continue to shape India’s religious and cultural traditions.
