Amit Shah Meets Punjab BJP Chief Kewal Singh Dhillon In New Delhi

Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon on Sunday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and raised concerns over the growing menace of drug trafficking, gangsterism and the overall security situation in the border state.

According to a BJP statement, the meeting focused on a range of issues, including the spread of narcotics, the internal security situation under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, cross-border smuggling of drugs and weapons, and the broader law and order scenario in Punjab.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Dhillon said, “I am grateful to Home Minister Amit Shah for his time and his deep concern for Punjab. Punjab is a border state with immense strategic importance, and the AAP government has utterly failed its people. Drug trafficking is destroying our youth, gangsterism is flourishing, and law and order have collapsed. I apprised the Home Minister of the ground realities and urged the Central government’s continued support in ensuring the safety and security of every Punjabi.”

“I also had the honour of presenting him a book and portrait of Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh ji — a reminder of the greatness Punjab is capable of, and the greatness we must restore,” he added.

During the meeting, Dhillon presented Amit Shah with a book and a portrait of Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

The BJP described the gesture as a tribute to Punjab’s rich heritage and a reflection of the party’s commitment to honouring the state’s historical legacy.

BJP Vows to Keep Raising Punjab Issues

Dhillon said the BJP would continue highlighting what it described as the AAP government’s failure to protect citizens and would work closely with the Centre to ensure Punjab’s concerns are addressed at the highest levels.

The meeting was part of Dhillon’s ongoing outreach with senior Union Ministers following his appointment as Punjab BJP president, aimed at bringing key state issues to the national agenda.
