Amit Shah Likely To Visit West Bengal As BJP Government Completes 100 Days

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to visit West Bengal later this month as the state’s new BJP government completes 100 days in office.

The government will reach the milestone on August 19. It marks the first BJP-led administration in West Bengal since Independence.

BJP state committee insiders said Shah may undertake a three-day visit from August 20.

If confirmed, the visit will combine administrative and political engagements.

Shah is expected to meet senior state officials and review the implementation of welfare schemes. The discussions may focus particularly on centrally sponsored projects.

Shah’s proposed trip is also expected to coincide with meetings of the BJP’s core committee and extended state committee in West Bengal.

Political observers consider the visit significant ahead of another organisational reshuffle in the state.

The BJP is expected to undertake the changes before the Durga Puja festivities in October.

A state committee member said party leaders may seek Shah’s guidance on the proposed restructuring.

The next phase will focus mainly on organisational districts, mandals and booth-level units. Only limited changes are expected within the state committee itself.

The state leadership is also preparing to recommend two West Bengal leaders for key positions in the BJP’s central organisation.

The proposed posts are national vice-president and national secretary.

Shah’s possible visit could therefore serve two purposes. It may allow the Centre and state administration to review welfare delivery while giving the BJP an opportunity to strengthen its organisational framework.

The party has not yet formally confirmed the Union Home Minister’s schedule.
