Union Home Minister Amit Shah presided over the sixth All India Rajbhasha Conference in Navi Mumbai on September 14, 2026.
During the conference, Shah presented the prestigious Rajbhasha Kirti and Rajbhasha Gaurav awards.
The honours recognised contributions towards promoting India’s official language and strengthening language-related initiatives.
Shah inaugurated the Sarthi multilingual translation mobile application during the event. He further unveiled Bhasha Kunj, described as India’s first data centre dedicated exclusively to Indian languages.
The initiatives seek to harness technology to broaden access to language resources and encourage the growth of Hindi alongside India’s diverse regional languages.
The conference featured the launch of Hindi word resources, along with typing and shorthand training programmes. These measures aim to strengthen practical language skills and make Hindi resources easier to access through modern technological platforms.
The initiatives reflect a wider effort to connect language development with digital innovation. They seek to create stronger infrastructure for Indian-language content and improve accessibility for users across the country.
The sixth All India Rajbhasha Conference brought together efforts centred on the promotion and wider use of Hindi as the official language. At the same time, the initiatives recognised India’s multilingual character and the importance of regional languages.
The technology-focused measures are expected to support language learning, translation and digital access. They underline the growing role of technology in preserving, developing and expanding India’s linguistic resources.
