Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended warm birthday greetings to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday, praising his continued commitment to development and public welfare in the state.
Home Minister Shah’s message, shared on social media, highlighted CM Patel’s role in carrying forward the legacy established by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tenure as Gujarat’s Chief Minister.
In a post on X, Shah wrote, “Warm birthday wishes to Gujarat CM Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel. You are consistently carrying forward the milestones of development and public welfare set by Modi ji in Gujarat. I pray to Somnath Dada for your happy, healthy, and successful life.”
Shah’s message, posted in both Hindi and Gujarati, resonated culturally and politically.
By invoking ‘Somnath Dada’, a revered deity of the Somnath Temple, Shah blended spiritual blessings with political symbolism — a signature style in the BJP’s outreach strategy.
Since taking office in September 2021, CM Bhupendra Patel has carved out a reputation as a low-profile yet effective administrator. His tenure has focused on accelerating infrastructure development, promoting industrial growth, and enhancing public service delivery.
Under his leadership, Gujarat has strengthened its position as a key manufacturing and investment hub. The state successfully hosted the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024, attracting global attention and investments.
A civil engineer by profession, Bhupendra Patel began his political journey as a municipal councillor in Ahmedabad.
Over time, he rose through the ranks of the Bharatiya Janata Party, serving as Chairman of the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) and participating in various educational and religious trusts.
In 2017, he was elected as an MLA from the Ghatlodia constituency, a seat formerly held by ex-CM Anandiben Patel.
The BJP chose Patel as Gujarat’s Chief Minister to ensure continuity and cohesion in the state’s governance, recognising his consensus-building approach.
