Amit Shah Directs Multi-Layered Security Cover For Amarnath Yatra

Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, chaired a high-level meeting in New Delhi to assess preparedness and security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.

Senior officials from various security and administrative agencies attended the review session.

During the meeting, Shah directed the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and other concerned agencies to establish a comprehensive multi-layered security framework across the entire pilgrimage route. He emphasised the need for constant coordination among all stakeholders to ensure a secure and smooth pilgrimage experience.

The Home Minister reviewed measures related to registration, accommodation, healthcare facilities and emergency response systems. He instructed authorities to strengthen these arrangements and maintain high standards of service for devotees undertaking the annual pilgrimage.

Shah also stressed the importance of effective disaster management mechanisms. He asked officials to remain fully prepared to respond swiftly to any unforeseen situation during the Yatra period.

A key aspect of the discussion centred on weather-related precautions.

The Home Minister directed authorities to regulate the movement of pilgrim batches strictly according to prevailing weather conditions and official forecasts. He said that safety considerations must guide all operational decisions throughout the pilgrimage.

Senior officials, including Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, participated in the review meeting. They discussed security deployment, logistical preparations and coordination strategies required for the successful conduct of the Yatra.

The deliberations focused on ensuring that pilgrims receive adequate support at every stage of their journey.

Authorities also reviewed measures to enhance surveillance, improve emergency response capabilities and strengthen infrastructure along the route.

The meeting reflected the Centre’s commitment to providing a safe, organised and well-managed pilgrimage while ensuring the welfare and security of all devotees participating in the Amarnath Yatra.
