Amit Shah Congratulates India Women’s Cricket Team After Historic Asian Games Gold Triumph

Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated India’s women’s cricket team after their commanding victory at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.

India defeated Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the final. The victory delivered the country’s first gold medal at the Games.

The Indian side produced a record 216/3 after winning the toss and batting first. Smriti Mandhana led the charge with a superb 79 off 45 balls. Richa Ghosh provided the late impetus with an unbeaten 49.

India then produced a clinical bowling display. The team dismissed Sri Lanka for just 69 runs. The huge margin sealed India’s second successive women’s cricket gold at the Asian Games.

India had won the women’s cricket gold at the 2023 Asian Games. The latest triumph extended its unbeaten run in the continental event.
