Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday congratulated the all-women mountaineering team of the Border Security Force for successfully scaling Mount Everest, describing the feat as a remarkable example of courage, patriotism and the power of ‘Nari Shakti’.
Sharing his message on X, Shah praised the women personnel for scripting history during the Diamond Jubilee year of the BSF. He said the team demonstrated exceptional determination and resilience by conquering the world’s highest peak while carrying the spirit of ‘Vande Mataram’ to the top of the world.
The Home Minister stated that the achievement reflected the invincible strength of the BSF and stood as a proud moment for the nation. He also saluted the dedication and perseverance of the team members, who completed the challenging mission under the banner of Mission Vande Mataram.
The expedition marked the BSF’s first-ever all-women Mount Everest mission, showcasing extraordinary courage and determination by the force’s women personnel.
The team, comprising Constables Kouser Fatima, Munmun Ghosh, Rabeka Singh and Tsering Chorol, successfully reached the 8,848.86-metre summit at around 8 AM IST.
Despite extreme weather conditions and critically low oxygen levels, the mountaineers sang ‘Vande Mataram’ after reaching the peak, reflecting patriotism, resilience and the spirit of ‘Nari Shakti’.
The BSF described the achievement as a symbol of women’s empowerment, national pride and the force’s commitment to excellence.
Established in 1965 after the India-Pakistan war, the Border Security Force operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs and is widely recognised as India’s ‘First Line of Defence’.
