Ambedkar Statue Discretion Sparks Outrage; Congress Calls It ‘Act Of Disrespect’

Dr BR Ambedakar statue’s discretion has sparked an outrage. Following this, the Congress party strongly condemned the vandalization of a Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar statue in Amritsar. Further asserting that such acts are an affront to the nation’s values and that the public will give a strong response.

Ambedkar Statue Discretion: Congress Leaders Condemns Act

Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole reacted to the incident, saying, “In BJP-ruled and BJP-leaning states, acts of disrespect towards Baba Saheb Ambedkar and his ideas happen daily. This incident is a direct result of such ideology.”

With this, Haryana Congress leader Ajay Yadav came up saying, “This is a very unfortunate incident. The BJP and RSS’ thinking have consistently opposed Ambedkar’s ideas and policies.”

Speaking to IANS, Former Union Minister Bharatsinh Madhavsinh Solanki condemned the act, emphasizing Dr. Ambedkar’s significant contributions to the nation. “Baba Saheb was not just an ordinary person; he worked tirelessly for the nation’s betterment and the Constitution’s formation. Those opposing his ideas will face a strong public response.”

Congress Leader Pawan Kumar Bansal Demands ‘Strict Punishment For Culprits’

Moreover, Congress leader and former Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal also condemned the act, stating, “Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions to India’s Constitution and democracy are immense. Such incidents are not just condemnable but also demand a thorough investigation and strict punishment for the culprits.”

The vandalism of Ambedkar’s statue has sparked widespread outrage, with political leaders and the public condemning the disrespect shown to the architect of the Indian Constitution.

Ambedkar Statue Discretion: Incident Details & Probe Underway

The incident took place on January 26 when Akashdeep Singh, reportedly from the Scheduled Caste community, defaced the statue on Heritage Street near the Golden Temple complex.

A viral video of the act led to Akashdeep Singh’s immediate arrest. According to the police, Singh used a hammer to deface the statue and set a stone-carved Constitution book on fire near the statue. The motive behind the act is still under investigation.
