Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav has sharply criticized the Yogi Adityanath-led government, suggesting a name change for the Uttar Pradesh Governor’s residence. He proposed that “Raj Bhavan” be renamed “Seva Bhavan.”
In a recent post on ‘X’, Yadav shared a brief 10-second video showing construction activities at the Governor’s residence. He raised concerns about whether the ongoing work was being carried out with all necessary approvals.
Yadav emphasized the importance of adhering to construction standards. He expressed hope that the new construction at Raj Bhavan had commenced only after obtaining the proper approvals. He urged authorities, such as the Lucknow Development Authority, to publicly display the approved plans during the construction phase. This, he argued, would promote legal compliance in construction projects.

“It is hoped that the new construction of the Raj Bhavan must have started only after getting the map approved with all the standards,” Yadav stated in his post in Hindi. He further insisted that until the construction is completed, responsible departments should showcase the construction plans for public awareness.
Adding a touch of satire, he remarked that the government should replace the term “Raj” with “Seva.” He suggested that the residence be referred to as “Seva Bhavan” instead of “Raj Bhavan.”
“When the change is happening, I propose that the monarchical term ‘Raj,’ rooted in colonial mentality, be replaced with ‘Seva’ to reflect a democratic ethos,” Yadav concluded.
