Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Indian shooters Suruchi Inder Singh and Kamaljeet after they won the gold medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, praising their performance and new Asian record.
In a post shared via PMO India, PM Modi stated, “An excellent performance with a new Asian Record! Congratulations to Kamaljeet and Suruchi Inder Singh on winning Gold in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the Asian Games. Their determination has brought immense pride to the nation. Suruchi and Kamaljeet produced a composed performance in the final, scoring 484.6 points to finish at the top and set a new Asian record in the event.
The Indian pair maintained their composure throughout the closely contested final, delivering accurate shots and holding their advantage as the competition intensified. Their consistency proved crucial in the mixed-team event, where the combined performance of both shooters determines the final score.
The Indian duo finished ahead of the Republic of Korea’s Choo Gaeun and Hong Suhyeon, who secured the silver medal with 478.0 points.
Iran’s Rostamyan Haniyeh and Golkhandan Vahid claimed the bronze medal with 415.8 points, while Indonesia’s Darmoyo A and Prabowo M finished fourth with 349.4 points.
The victory added another gold medal to India’s shooting campaign at the continental event.
The 484.6-point performance, however, gave Suruchi and Kamaljeet an Asian record alongside their gold-medal finish, highlighting their accuracy, discipline and composure under pressure.
