AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan Arrested By ED In Money Laundering Probe

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) apprehended Amanatullah Khan, an MLA from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Monday afternoon after a high-profile raid at his Delhi residence.

This arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into money laundering allegations connected to irregularities within the Delhi Waqf Board.

The raid, conducted earlier in the day at Khan’s Okhla home, focused on suspected financial misconduct related to the Delhi Waqf Board’s staff appointments and property leasing practices.

Delhi Police and CRPF personnel provided extensive security as they executed the operation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan Accuses ED Of Targeted Harassment Following Arrest

In response to the arrest, Khan took to social media, accusing the ED of targeted harassment.

In a video posted on X, Khan claimed, “For the past two years, they have been harassing me with false cases, creating some trouble for me and my entire party almost every day. The Chief Minister has been in jail, Sanjay Singh has been in jail, Satyendra Jain is still in jail, and now they want to arrest me. Their only motive is to break us and our party.”

AAP leaders have rallied behind Khan, with Manish Sisodia denouncing the ED’s actions as a bid to stifle dissent.

Sisodia however declared, “This is the only work left for the ED: to suppress every voice raised against the BJP. Break it. Arrest and imprison those who do not break or surrender.”

AAP MP Sanjay Singh also criticized the ED, calling their actions ruthless.

Singh highlighted that Khan had been cooperating with the investigation and had recently requested an extension due to his mother-in-law’s severe illness.

Khan has faced legal trouble before; the ED arrested him in April in connection with the same investigation, but the Delhi Rouse Avenue court later granted him bail.

The ED’s complaint accuses Khan of orchestrating illegal recruitment processes at the Delhi Waqf Board and misusing funds to acquire properties through associates.

The arrest has further fueled the ongoing political clash between AAP and the BJP, with accusations of misconduct flying from both sides.
