A Sacred Confluence Of Faith: PM Modi On Maha Kumbh 2025 In Prayagraj

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the commencement of Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, describing it as a ‘very special day’ for millions cherishing Indian culture and values.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “A very special day for crores of people who cherish Bharatiya values and culture! Maha Kumbh 2025 commences in Prayagraj, bringing together countless people in a sacred confluence of faith, devotion and culture. The Maha Kumbh embodies India’s timeless spiritual heritage and celebrates faith and harmony.”

The Prime Minister expressed his joy at the large number of pilgrims and tourists visiting Prayagraj and wished them a pleasant and fulfilling stay.

“I am happy to see Prayagraj abuzz with countless people coming there, taking the holy dip and seeking blessings. Wishing all pilgrims and tourists a wonderful stay,” PM Modi added.

The Prime Minister further conveyed his hope that the Maha Kumbh would infuse renewed energy into everyone’s lives.

“With the bath on Paush Purnima, the Maha Kumbh has begun on the holy land of Prayagraj from today. On this divine occasion related to our faith and culture, I salute and greet all the devotees from my heart. I wish that this huge festival of Indian spiritual tradition brings new energy and enthusiasm in the life of all of you,” said the Prime Minister.

Maha Kumbh 2025, the world’s largest spiritual gathering, saw thousands of devotees taking a holy dip at Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers meet.

The first Shahi Snan (royal bath) is likely for Tuesday on Makar Sankranti, adding to the sacred fervor.

This year, Maha Kumbh, the world’s largest spiritual gathering, is even more unique due to a rare celestial alignment that happens once every 144 years.

Enhanced Safety & Traffic Arrangements

Authorities have deployed NDRF teams and Uttar Pradesh Police’s water units to ensure the safety of devotees.

The Traffic Police have put in place comprehensive measures to ensure smooth vehicle flow and the safety of devotees at the Maha Kumbh Mela.

Entry to the Sangam Mela area will be via Jawaharlal Nehru Marg (Black Road), and the exit will be through Triveni Marg. Akshayavat Darshan will remain closed on major bathing festival days.

Designated parking areas have been set up, including Chini Mill Parking and other locations near Jaunpur. During major bathing dates, Akshayavat Darshan will remain temporarily closed to manage the crowd.

With over 45 crore devotees expected, Maha Kumbh 2025 is being celebrated after a 12-year wait.

The grand event will continue until 26 February, concluding with the final holy dip on Maghi Purnima.
