A New Hope And Achievement For Hadoti: PM Modi On Kota-Bundi Airport Project

A video message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi was played during the foundation ceremony of the Kota-Bundi Greenfield Airport and the launch of major drinking water initiatives in Kota, Rajasthan.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister described the occasion as a moment of new hope and achievement for the Hadoti region.

PM Modi noted that he recently visited Rajasthan. From the sacred city of Ajmer, he inaugurated and launched development projects worth thousands of crores.

The Prime Minister said these initiatives are aimed at accelerating the state’s progress.

During that programme, he also distributed appointment letters to more than 21,000 young people from across the state.

The Prime Minister emphasised that two major development initiatives launched within a week demonstrate the rapid pace of progress in Rajasthan. He said the airport project would benefit the entire Hadoti region, including Kota, Bundi, Baran and Jhalawar.

PM Modi highlighted Kota’s unique identity as both an education hub and an energy centre. He also mentioned several well-known regional products and cultural symbols, including Kota Kachori, Kota Doria, Kota Stone and sandstone.

The Prime Minister also referred to important religious sites across the region.

Om Birla said residents had demanded an airport in the region for many years. He stated that sustained efforts across different governments ultimately made the project possible.

Birla also recalled that Prime Minister Modi had promised the airport during a 2023 visit to Kota and has now fulfilled that commitment.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma had also assured voters during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections that the long-awaited project would become reality.

Birla said the airport would strengthen development because the region already enjoys strong road and rail connectivity.

PM Modi added that the Hadoti region benefits from the Chambal River, abundant water resources and major electricity production.

The Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation Limited plans to develop around 600 hectares near the airport. The initiative aims to promote industrial expansion in the region.

The Kota-Bundi Greenfield Airport will cost about ₹1,507 crore. It will include a 20,000-square-metre terminal, a 3,200-metre runway and parking bays for Airbus A321 aircraft.

Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu said construction should finish within two years.
