5 killed In Twin Cylinder Blast In UP

Lucknow: Five members of a family died and four others were injured after two LPG cylinders exploded in a residence in the Hata Hazrat Sahab neighborhood here on Wednesday, police said.

The event occurred at midnight, under the Kakori Police Station jurisdiction. The explosion was preceded by a fire, which was attributed to a short circuit.

To extinguish the fire, three fire department men and residents worked together.

Nine members of the family were evacuated to King George Medical University’s Trauma Centre, where five perished, police said. The deceased were Mushir, 50, his wife Husn Bano, 45, Raiya, 7, Uma, 4, and Hina, 2, according to reports.

Isha, 17, Lakab, 21, Amjad, 34, and Anam, 18, were taken to the hospital with burn injuries, authorities said. Speaking to reporters at the Trauma Centre, District Magistrate Suryapal Gangwar stated that two of the four patients at the hospital are serious, with 90% burns, while the other two have 40% and 50% burn injuries.

When questioned if the house was being used to run a cracker plant, as some stories claimed, the DM stated that no such information had yet surfaced. “Our teams are probing the matter.”
Dr. Sandeep Tiwari, the in-charge of the KGMU Trauma Centre, stated that two of the patients are in serious condition. “We are taking all care of them.”

Mohammad Chand, a local, reported that the event occurred when the youngsters were watching television after supper. “Mushir escaped unscathed, but four others were burned. He then ran into the home to help the others but was trapped by the fire. When the lights were turned on, a blast occurred,” he explained.

Mushir, his wife, niece, and nephew were among those killed, according to Jamil Ahmad.

Another witness, Tahsin Ahmand, stated that the cylinder burst occurred after a short circuit, tearing through the whole home.
