The event occurred at midnight, under the Kakori Police Station jurisdiction. The explosion was preceded by a fire, which was attributed to a short circuit.

To extinguish the fire, three fire department men and residents worked together.

Nine members of the family were evacuated to King George Medical University’s Trauma Centre, where five perished, police said. The deceased were Mushir, 50, his wife Husn Bano, 45, Raiya, 7, Uma, 4, and Hina, 2, according to reports.

Dr. Sandeep Tiwari, the in-charge of the KGMU Trauma Centre, stated that two of the patients are in serious condition. “We are taking all care of them.”

Mohammad Chand, a local, reported that the event occurred when the youngsters were watching television after supper. “Mushir escaped unscathed, but four others were burned. He then ran into the home to help the others but was trapped by the fire. When the lights were turned on, a blast occurred,” he explained.

Mushir, his wife, niece, and nephew were among those killed, according to Jamil Ahmad.

Another witness, Tahsin Ahmand, stated that the cylinder burst occurred after a short circuit, tearing through the whole home.
