Forty Urdu journalists under 40 were honored by Exchange 4 Media at the India International Center. Four journalists from Bharat Express Urdu received awards.
The event began with a keynote address by former Chief Election Commissioner Dr. SY Qureshi. Union Minister of State SP Singh Baghel and former Union Minister Salman Khurshid, now President of the India Islamic Cultural Center, attended as chief guests.
In the second edition of Jashn-e-Sahafat, Exchange 4 Media honored 40 Urdu journalists from TV channels, newspapers, and digital platforms. Bharat Express Urdu’s Chief Sub Editor Nisar Ahmed, Senior Sub Editors Rahmatullah and Aamir Iqbal, and Graphic Designer Mehtab Chaudhary were among the honorees. Earlier, Sunil Upadhyay, Promo Editor at Bharat Express TV, received the Hindi Journalism Award from Exchange 4 Media.
Dr. SY Qureshi praised the Urdu language and Exchange 4 Media’s efforts. He congratulated Chairman Anurag Batra and Senior Editor Rohel Amin. He noted a slight decline in Urdu readers but acknowledged the growing contribution from non-Muslims to the language.
Union Minister SP Singh Baghel praised Urdu as a sweet and enjoyable language. He congratulated Dr. Anurag Batra and his team for their achievements.
Former Union Minister Salman Khurshid called Jashn-e-Sahafat spectacular. He emphasized Urdu’s role in Ganga-Jamuni culture and India’s independence. He praised Dr. Anurag Batra for organizing the event and welcomed such celebrations. He believed that any language will persist as long as people love it.
Earlier, sessions featured Bharat Express Urdu editor Dr. Khalid Raza Khan and Exchange 4 Media’s senior editor Rohel Amin. Moin Shadab from Sahara India Media and journalist Kashfi Shamael from Sahara Samay Digital conducted the program. The panel included Professor Akhtarul Wase, Professor Anwar Alam Pasha, Professor Farhat Basir Khan, Dr. Harish Bhalla, Amreen Khan, Ayesha Dehra, Dr. Shafi Ayub, Sudhir Mishra, Bhupendra Choubey, Dr. Yamin Ansari, and Tariq Faridi. They discussed Urdu journalism.
Dr. Anurag Batra called Urdu a sweet and significant language. He stressed that no language is inferior. He expressed his love for languages and his commitment to promoting them. He was pleased with the enthusiastic participation of Urdu journalists and their growing presence.
