30 Maoists Killed, One Jawan Martyred In Two Separate Encounters In Chhattisgarh

Security forces in Chhattisgarh killed 30 Maoists in two major encounters in the Bastar region on Thursday.

The operations marked a significant blow to the Maoist insurgency in the state.

The first encounter started along the Bijapur-Dantewada border, while the second took place near the Kanker-Narayanpur border.

A District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan was martyred during the exchange of fire in Bijapur.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the security forces for the successful operations.

He confirmed that 22 Maoists were killed in the two encounters and called it a major success under the ‘Naxal Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’.

Shah stated that the country is on track to become ‘naxal-free’ by March 31 next year.

State Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai also lauded the security forces for their determination in tackling Maoist insurgency.

A senior police official reported that 26 Maoists were killed in Bijapur, while four were eliminated in Kanker.

Security forces recovered automatic weapons and ammunition from the encounter sites.

The operations were based on intelligence reports about a large Maoist gathering in the Gangaloor area.

Acting on this information, security forces launched a joint operation along the Dantewada-Bijapur border on Wednesday.

The encounter began early Thursday morning and continued until the afternoon.

In a separate incident, two jawans were injured in an IED blast in the Thulthuli area near the Narayanpur-Dantewada border.

Both jawans are in stable condition and receiving medical care.

Heavy firing from both sides prolonged the encounter, but the security forces maintained their ground and inflicted heavy casualties on the Maoists.

The success of these operations underscores the government’s commitment to ending Maoist insurgency and restoring peace in the region.
