3.8 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Meghalaya

An official stated that an earthquake of 3.8 magnitude struck the Meghalaya capital Shillong and surrounding areas on Friday morning.

According to a Regional Seismological Centre official, the 3.8 Richter Scale tremor occurred at 8.46 am.

The earthquake’s epicentre was discovered at a depth of 14 kilometres in the Mawphlang region, southwest of the city.

There was no immediate report of any deaths or property damage.

The northeastern states are in a high seismic zone, and earthquakes occur often.
