At least 15 people, including four women and four children, died in a tragic collision between a roadways bus and a van on National Highway 93, officials reported. The accident, which occurred on Friday near Kanwarpur village, approximately 10 km from the district headquarters, also left 13 individuals injured. The injured have been admitted to a government hospital.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Nipun Agarwal, the bus collided with the van while attempting to overtake it on the Agra-Aligarh national highway. The passengers were en route from Hathras to Agra at the time of the crash.
In response to the tragedy, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed district officials to provide immediate relief and ensure proper treatment for the injured. He has also announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each for those seriously injured.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences over the accident and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. He confirmed the ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those hurt.
President Droupadi Murmu also extended her condolences, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives and praying for the swift recovery of the injured. “The news of the deaths of several people in a road accident in Hathras district is extremely sad. I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for a speedy recovery of those injured,” President Murmu said in a post on X.
The local administration continues to provide support to the victims under the supervision of the state government.
