12-Year-Old Boy Succumbs To Gunshot Injuries In Lucknow

A 12-year-old boy tragically lost his life after suffering gunshot injuries in the Krishna Nagar locality of Lucknow on Sunday night, officials reported.

The young victim, Shiva Singh, was playing with a rifle belonging to his maternal uncle, Sanjay Singh, at his rented accommodation in Prem Nagar when the firearm accidentally discharged.

According to police, the incident occurred while Sanjay was away at the market.

DCP (South Zone) Tej Pratap Singh stated, “Sanjay Singh, originally from Jalaun and currently seeking employment as a security guard in the city, had come to stay with his brother-in-law, Balbir Singh, who serves in the Army and resides in Prem Nagar.”

DCP Tej Pratap Singh further elaborated that based on initial statements from family members, Sanjay had left the loaded rifle in the room before heading out to purchase vegetables.

During this time, Shiva discovered the weapon and inadvertently pulled the trigger, resulting in a bullet wound to his stomach.

Upon hearing the gunshot, Shiva’s sisters, Renu and Neetu, along with concerned neighbors, immediately came to his aid and rushed him to Lok Bandhu Hospital.

Despite efforts to save him, medical personnel later transferred Shiva to the trauma center at King George’s Medical University (KGMU), where doctors sadly pronounced him dead.

ADCP (South Zone) Shashank Singh said that a team is examining the crime scene. He further added that the rifle has been sent for forensic analysis.

The incident has left the community in shock, and authorities are conducting a detailed investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to this tragic event.
