While the 2014 Lok Sabha election is widely regarded as a turning point in India’s democratic landscape, the dates 16 May and 20 May 2014 hold particular historical significance.
On 16 May 2014, the results of the general elections confirmed a decisive mandate for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), ending a decade of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) rule.
Just four days later, on 20 May, PM Narendra Modi officially assumed office as India’s Prime Minister, marking a red-letter day not only for him personally but also for the BJP, which had returned to power after a ten-year gap.
To commemorate the occasion, Union Minister and Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy shared a tribute on the social media platform X.
He posted a photograph of the formal invitation extended by the then President of India to PM Narendra Modi for his swearing-in ceremony.
Taking to X, Reddy posted, “11 years of Jan Seva, Susashan & Bharat Uday… Eleven years ago today, Shri @narendramodi ji assumed office as the Prime Minister of India. His leadership has ushered in a true Puran Uday of Bharat marked by civilizational pride, cultural resurgence, and global recognition.”
“From reviving our ancient temples and traditions to setting new standards in good governance and Jan Seva, he has led India’s rise as a Vishwaguru. His firm, compassionate, and visionary leadership is rejuvenating Bharat’s glory,” the post further added.
G Kishan Reddy further noted, “As a proud member of this transformative journey, I express my deep gratitude to him for his dedication to humanity. He remains a constant inspiration to the nation and the world.”

Looking at the present, the BJP’s continued hold on power under PM Modi’s leadership has broken new ground.
With the party returning to power for a third straight term in the 18th Lok Sabha, it has achieved a feat unmatched in India’s recent political history.
Apart from India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, no other leader has led an incumbent government to three consecutive victories with a clear majority.
This has firmly established PM Modi’s place as a transformative figure in contemporary Indian politics.
As the nation marks 11 years since PM Modi’s first swearing-in, party leaders and supporters continue to frame his tenure as a period of national resurgence.
G Kishan Reddy further echoed that sentiment, declaring himself a ‘proud member of this transformative journey’ and describing PM Modi as a ‘constant source of inspiration for the nation and the world’.
