A tragic accident occurred early this morning on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway, resulting in the deaths of ten devotees from Chhattisgarh. The victims were traveling in a Bolero on their way to the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj when their vehicle collided with a bus. Nineteen other devotees sustained injuries in the crash.
The accident took place at around 2:30 AM in the Meja area, near Prayagraj. The Bolero, which was carrying devotees from Korba district, was en route to the Sangam for a ritual bath.
The collision between the Bolero and the bus was so severe that the front part of the Bolero was completely crushed. All ten deceased individuals were traveling in the Bolero, and no fatalities were reported from the bus.
The ten victims who lost their lives were residents of Korba district in Chhattisgarh. They had been on their way to take part in the sacred bath at the Sangam during the Maha Kumbh festival.
The injured devotees, 19 in total, were traveling in the bus and were on their way to Varanasi after visiting the Sangam. The bus passengers hailed from Rajgarh district in Madhya Pradesh.
Following the accident, all the injured individuals were quickly rushed to the Community Health Center (CHC) in Ramnagar for treatment. Authorities have sent the bodies of the deceased for postmortem to determine the exact cause of death.
