PIB Fact Check Warns Against Fake Supreme Court, Finance Ministry Notice Seeking Money

The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check Unit has warned that a fake notice is circulating online in the name of the Supreme Court of India and the Ministry of Finance.

The notice instructs individuals under investigation to deposit funds into a personal bank account for financial verification and asset inspection.

“Decision on Designation of Public Fund accounts of Reserve Bank of India. This account is the central account for defence and law enforcement. With the approval of the Taxation Department of the Ministry of Finance, the suspects involved in the case are allowed to submit all the funds into the national central account for checking all the serial numbers. Conduct verification and inventory processes of assets and financial status. The details of the Public Fund account are as follows,” the notice said.

PIB Fact Check unit has, however, termed the notice fake, urging people not to fall prey to such fraudulent instructions.

The Fact Check Unit urged citizens to be aware of such fraud notices and appealed to verify them through the official websites and concerned authority or government department before taking any action

For such suspicious notices demanding money, PIB posted, “If you receive any suspicious notice demanding money, do not transfer funds or share your personal, banking, or financial information.”
