PIB Fact Check: No Petrol, Diesel Shortage; LPG Delays Reported

PIB Fact Check dismissed widespread social media claims of petrol and diesel shortages. It confirmed that fuel supplies remain stable across the country.

Officials said refineries are running at full capacity, ensuring adequate supply despite West Asia tensions.

Authorities emphasised that nationwide fuel reserves remain sufficient and there is no immediate cause for concern. They urged citizens to rely exclusively on verified information and refrain from panic buying, which could strain local distribution systems unnecessarily.

While petrol and diesel availability remains unaffected, reports indicate emerging constraints in LPG distribution.

Delays of up to 15 days have been observed in several regions, including Mumbai, impacting nearly 340 million households dependent on cooking gas supplies. These disruptions arise amid logistical challenges linked to global supply chain disturbances and heightened geopolitical uncertainty.

Officials continue to monitor the situation closely to mitigate delays and restore normal delivery timelines.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently reiterated that India’s economic fundamentals remain resilient and that fuel reserves are adequate to meet demand. He underscored the importance of maintaining public confidence and avoiding misinformation-driven reactions.

The government maintains that while certain supply bottlenecks may occur, overall fuel security remains intact.

Citizens have been advised to stay informed through official channels and cooperate to ensure smooth distribution across regions.
