PIB Fact Check Exposes Fake India Post ‘Dak Seva Gifts’ Scam

PIB Fact Check has exposed a viral online scam falsely claiming that India Post is distributing gifts and rewards through a programme called ‘Dak Seva Gifts’.

The government’s official fact-checking unit confirmed that India Post operates no such lucky draw or reward scheme and urged the public to remain cautious.

The fraudulent messages imitate official India Post branding to appear authentic. They direct users to suspicious websites, including indoc4.cyou, and encourage them to claim fake prizes.

Officials warned that these links are designed to steal personal information, banking credentials and other sensitive data.

PIB Fact Check stressed that the claims circulating on social media are completely false. It clarified that India Post has never announced any reward programme under the name  ‘Dak Seva Gifts’ and advised citizens not to trust such messages.

The agency noted that this phishing campaign has surfaced repeatedly since late 2025.

Authorities have issued several public advisories to prevent people from becoming victims of online fraud.

The recurring scam relies on deceptive branding and fabricated offers to lure unsuspecting users into revealing confidential details.

Officials urged the public to verify every government scheme only through authorised government websites and official communication channels before responding to any promotional message or clicking unknown links.

PIB Fact Check also encouraged citizens to report suspicious government-related messages immediately.

People can forward misleading content through its official WhatsApp helpline at +91 8799711259 or report it via email for verification.

The agency reiterated that prompt verification and public vigilance remain the strongest safeguards against phishing attempts and AI-assisted digital scams. It advised users to ignore unsolicited reward offers, avoid sharing financial information with unverified sources and rely only on official government announcements to prevent online fraud.
