The PIB Fact Check unit has exposed an AI-generated deepfake video that falsely portrays Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman endorsing an investment platform called QuantumAI 22000.
The manipulated video falsely claims that an investment of ₹22,000 can generate a monthly income of ₹2.5 lakh.
Official fact-checkers confirmed that the content is digitally altered and entirely fabricated.
The government clarified that neither the Finance Minister nor the Government of India has authorised, promoted, or endorsed any such investment scheme.

Authorities urged citizens to rely only on verified government platforms for authentic information and financial announcements.
Officials warned that fraudsters are increasingly using artificial intelligence to create convincing deepfake videos featuring prominent public figures. These fabricated clips mislead people into investing in fraudulent schemes. They promise unrealistic financial returns to deceive unsuspecting investors.
The PIB Fact Check unit stressed that the latest video follows a recurring pattern of online investment scams that misuse the Finance Minister’s identity to deceive unsuspecting individuals.
Authorities also highlighted that similar deepfake investment frauds have previously caused significant financial losses.
In one reported case, a retired professor allegedly lost ₹61 lakh after falling victim to a fake investment scheme promoted through manipulated online content.
The government advised citizens to verify every financial claim through official government channels before making any investment decisions. It also urged people to remain alert, avoid clicking suspicious links, and immediately report fraudulent online content to the concerned authorities.
The latest fact check reinforces the government’s efforts to combat AI-enabled misinformation and protect citizens from financially motivated cyber fraud that exploits public trust through sophisticated digital manipulation.
